Session Description: "Grief should not be an outside issue in recovery,” Dr. Noeréna. In this participatory virtual workshop, Dr. Noeréna shares her experience and perspective on the importance of integrating knowledge of grief into a recovering person’s program to avoid relapse. The impact of loss, change, and grief as an unavoidable trigger is often ignored, under-addressed, or unrecognized in 12 Step programs. This interactive session demonstrates how a recovering individual can walk through the unavoidable trigger of grief in recovery while preventing relapse. Dr. Noeréna shares strategies and tools that have been successful in guiding participants through her signature work that empowers recovering individuals and substance-use-disorder-professionals to incorporate knowledge of grief in 12 Step Recovery.
